Hertz Car Rental

Hertz Car Rental
There are so many auto hire companies in the world today, but there is one company that has been there for quite a while now, and it is one of the leading auto hire companies in the world today. This is the Hertz car rental company. This car hire company offers the public various services which include car rentals at every airport, and they have offices in over 7000 locations all over the world. And this makes it one of the biggest car rental companies in the world. This company was established in the city of Chicago by a business man who was known as Walter L. Jacobs in the year 1910.

Later in the year 1923, Mr. Jacobs sold the auto hire business to one John Hertz. John Hertz then was the president of the Yellow truck, coach and cab manufacturing company but he stayed on as the company's administrative and operating executive. This company later in the year 1926 changed its name to the Hertz Drive-Ur-Self system but the General Motors Company acquired the Yellow Truck Company and also took ownership of the Hertz car hire company. This company's history dates back far in history and with their experience in the business, the Hertz car hire company is one of the best in the world.

The first Hertz auto hire office was opened in the year 1932 at the Midway Airport in Chicago, and it was during the same year that the company introduced for the first time its self-drive program, which was meant to help people who are in the region for a short while with self-drive transport. The auto hire company was later acquired by the Omnibus Corporation in 1953 from the General Motors corporation and its name was changed to The Hertz corporation. The car hire company was listed in the stock exchange in the same year.

Mr. Jacobs remained the president of the company, and he served as president all through to the year 1960 when he officially retired. The auto hire company went on with business and it grew to be a big company. The Hertz car hire company later in 1994 acquired a company which was known as the Metropolitan Distributors which was a truck leasing company based in the city of New York. Leon C. Greenbaum who was the president of the Metropolitan Distributors company later became the vice chairman of the board of governors at the Hertz auto hire company.

Ford purchased the outstanding shares of the Hertz company, thus fully owning it. Later in the year 1997, the Hertz company launched its website. The website was meant to make the company known all over the world and it contained all the information about the company's services and their rates for all their services. It also contained all the booking information, and due to the fast growing rate of the company, it later formed the Never Lost navigation system in conjunction with the Megella Corporation which proved to be a big success. The Hertz Corporation is one of the leading car hire service providers in the world and it is still dedicated to providing good quality services.

Car Insurance

Car Insurance
Most auto insurers will give you the option to pay for coverage through monthly premiums rather than forcing you to make a single large, upfront payment. To decide which option is better, you'll need to carefully review the advantages versus the potential drawbacks in light of your personal circumstances. Depending on your financial situation, need for planning flexibility, and other factors, making the wrong choice can have long-term consequences.
This article will offer a road map for navigating your auto insurance payment schedule. We shall give you a glimpse into the advantages and disadvantages of monthly payments versus annual.

Pro: Easier On Your Monthly Budget
If you're like most people, you manage your finances with a monthly budget. Your income is offset by your bills; funds that are left over are allocated toward entertainment, investments, and other outflows. Under this budgeting system, making a large upfront payment for year-round coverage may prove unmanageable. This is especially so in today's economic climate.
Your monthly insurance payments will fit nicely in your budget. The payments represent an expected outflow that is already allocated in your financial plan.

Con: It's Inconvenient
Paying your auto insurance premiums on a monthly schedule increases the paperwork you'll be forced to manage. Not only will you need to open your statements and file them for future reference, but you'll also need to write a monthly check.

On the other hand, many auto insurance companies can help you establish an automatic payment plan. The funds are drafted directly from your checking account on a predefined schedule. That reduces your paperwork and eliminates the need to remember to write a check each month.

Pro: Provides More Liquidity
If funds are limited, there's value in having the option to hold onto your money for as long as possible. Monthly car insurance payments provide valuable liquidity. For example, suppose part of your monthly budget is allocated toward making a small investment into mutual funds. If you were forced to pay several hundreds of dollars upfront for an annual car insurance policy, you might lose the liquidity necessary to make your monthly investments.

Con: Includes Processing Fees
Most auto insurers will charge a small monthly fee to process your payments each month. These processing fees are typically small; it's not uncommon for them to be as low as a few dollars each month.

National Car Rental

National Car Rental
,center;"> text-align: center
National Rental Car is one of the foremost rental car businesses in the world. In August of 1947, twenty-four car rental operators that had 60 locations along with 800 vehicles, founded it. The group incorporated in 1959 as a for-profit corporation. Their identity as the best in personal service, as well as localized service, was quickly established.

The company is privately held and features vehicles that are made by General Motors. General Motors owns an 81.5% share of it and is one of the company's leading partners. It is owned and operated by the Taylor Family of St. Louis. The brand is recognized internationally and serves the daily car rental needs of the airport customer. It has locations throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America, the Pacific Rim and Asia.

They have been an industry pioneer over the years, working to improve the rental experience of their customers. In 1954, they were the first to provide an option for one-way car rentals to their customers. They were also the first car rental company to utilize computers in their day-to-day operations by equipping their offices with Telemax system. In 1976, after deregulation of the airline industry, it became the first car rental company to offer its customers flat rate options. The company was also the first in the industry to offer a program for its frequent renters. They called the program the Emerald Club. Combined with the Paperless Express Agreement, the Emerald Club used stored information to process transactions in just seconds, making the process of car rentals much faster. Next, it introduced the "Emerald Isle". This allowed members to select their cars and be on their way with no paperwork, completely bypassing the rental counter. Later, the "Choice Rental Process" was introduced, giving all of National Rental Car's customers the option to choose exactly which vehicle they wanted.
As it continued to evolve, its identity evolved as well. By the 1980s, the company's commitment to corporate business evolved into a stronger commitment to the corporate traveller. In 1988, an agreement between National Rental Car and Nippon Intern brought the company into contact with Asia, Japan and the Pacific Rim. In the late 1980s National Rental Car also expanded its relationship with Disney which began in 1975. The new agreement made National Rental Car the official car rental company of Disney as well as the beneficiary of high-profile exposure at Disney's resorts and occasionally in its movies.

Over the years National Rental Car has experienced tremendous growth, innovations in the travel industry and changes in the organization; yet the company has remained a leader in the industry. Today, National Rental Car is recognized as premium brand which serves the needs of the frequent business traveller across the world. National Rental Car is also part of a strategic global alliance with Europe car. This alliance creates the largest car rental network in the world.

Budget Car Rental

Budget Car Rental
Budget car rentals are a traveller's savior from being stranded in one place; imagine being able to go somewhere at any time of the day or night without the wait for a taxi to collect you - and then of course there's the cost to consider! However, the rental car market can be fiercely competitive so be careful you are not given a car with an engine that would be better fitted to a bike. OK, so I may be exaggerating a little but it is something you have to look out for because the last thing you want is to have a car that is not going to be of any use. So, just to help with your rental car experience, I have made a written down a few pointers to help.

I have found that budget car rental using the internet as a resource is a good way to find a low cost car because some sites let you set a limit on what you are prepared to pay. Do not dismiss this type of sites because they want your business and sometimes offer other incentives like unlimited mileage for example. Package deals like fly-drive and fly-drive and stay often discount the car rental element of the package just try avoid the airline companies when you book. Of course the airlines realize they have a captive audience when people visit their site to book a flight and do not need to discount their car rental.

If you are not used to arranging budget car rental on the internet, do not let that put you off as you will be pleasantly surprised by the offers available. Some websites even go as far as internet only discounts which can save a great deal of money. If you see an offer that looks good, you do not have to take the first one that comes your way because if one car rental company has a special offer on, then they probably won't be the only one. In addition to that, you can rent a car in the comfort of your own home, now beat that!

Sometimes, just when you think you have managed to get a really good deal. You find your credit card company has another surprise when it has organized a discount with the budget car rental company on top of any you have already arranged. If you are a member of the military or government, you may be eligible for discounts negotiated with a number of rental companies on your behalf.

Another tip is to check you rental car carefully and let the company know of any damage you find before you drive away. In addition to a physical check for collision damage, make sure everything works as it should or you might find yourself paying for something that wasn't your fault.

More often than not your existing vehicle policy will cover the rental car insurance needed but it is always best to check first. Why pay for rental car insurance when your own auto insurance policy will cover some of the aspects, even if it isn't a great deal; always make sure you have auto insurance anyway, as the penalties for driving without adequate cover are severe.
So don't think that it isn't an important aspect either because insurance is still required by law.

Used Cars For Sale

Used Cars For Sale
So you have decided to buy a used car for yourself. Good for you. You have made a decision that could potentially save you money in the long run. There are many cars for sale under 1000 dollars in car dealerships as well as private sellers. In this case, which one would you choose?
Before you choose between a car dealer or private seller, there is a little work you should do upfront, as this will help you make an informed decision on which used car is right for you:

1. Know what you are looking for and what you can afford beforehand. Experts agree that keeping three models or types in mind will give you a bigger selection at more affordable prices. They also suggest looking at the newer used cars first, as they usually give you the best value for your money.

2. Make sure you do research on the make and models that you are interested in. Reading the reviews from current owners will give you an idea on what to expect. Reading consumer reports will provide information that can be vital in determining whether you have chosen a reliable car. These reports will provide the car performance, repairs history, and if it is listed as a problem car.

3. You also want to do your research on each car that you initially select. Obtaining the history of that vehicle will tell you everything you need to know on whether it is right or not. The history will tell you about the previous owners, title problems, accidents, and service history, as well as whether the odometer has been moved back.

Now that you have done this important initial research, here is what you need to know when choosing between a car dealer or a private seller:

In car dealers, you get more options, plain and simple. With this option you have some measure of confidence that the car is free from any mechanical problem it may have. In-house mechanics usually carry out inspections and repairs if necessary. However, this requires a lot of paperwork that can cost money. This is usually forked over to the buyer making the car a bit more expensive.

Private sellers on the other hand sell their cars at a much lower rate. By contrast to car dealers, they are in no way obliged to repair any damage to the car. If you do not know what you are doing, you could end up paying for more in repair costs. Get around this problem by asking a mechanic or automotive expert to tag along.

Now that you know all of this, you should be well prepared when you go out and look at the many cars for sale under 1000 dollars available to you.

Car Rental

Car Rental
24 hour car rental is required by a number of people, especially those who are only visiting a city for one night. However, if you don't find the right rental service then this can often work out extremely costly. This is why you should look for a car rental company that specializes in this kind of deal. Here are a few tips for finding one.

One option for you is to go with an agency that specializes in 'hourly' car rental. These are good for periods of one day or less and can offer much better value than traditional car rental services. All you need to do is let them know how long you'll need the car for and they will work out your cost. However, you'll have to make sure that you get the car back on time if you want to avoid additional charges!

When it comes to such short car rentals then another way you can save money is to find a rental company that includes gas in the daily or hourly price. Rental companies are much more willing to do this for such a short rental, and you will benefit from picking up the car with a full tank. Many short-term companies offer this, but it is worth checking and factoring this in to any quotes you receive.

Shop around for the best 24 hour car rental rates and you could be pleasantly surprised with the services on offer. Many standard rental companies will only offer discounts for extended rental periods, meaning that finding a company specializing in short time periods will really help to save you a lot of money.

Used Cars

Used Cars
Used car dealerships present the option for people that do not wish to buy a brand new car. The main thing that drives this industry is the money savings people can take advantage of when buying used instead of buying new. A new car immediately loses value the second you drive it off the lot. Let other people take that loss in value by buying a certified pre-owned car.

A common misconception is that used cars carry much more problems than buying brand new from a dealership. This isn't true considering all the checks and measures your used car lot takes to make sure the car that they are selling is completely suitable and in perfect working order. In many cases these used vehicles still have an existing warranty on them, or you have the option of purchasing a warranty to make you feel confident you won't have any costly repairs down the road.

One major benefit a used car dealership presents to people is budget options. People can choose from highly expensive cars to very affordable economical cars on the same lot. This simply gives customers more options, and people really like to have these types of options. A used car dealership can also save people from taking many trips to many different dealerships because they carry different brand named vehicles at all times.

Customer service is a major consideration when it comes to the employees and owners of a used car dealership. Their mission is to find the right car, for the right person, and sell it to them at the right price. If their customers aren't happy, they will lose business. This is why these types of dealerships are much friendlier than corporate owned new car lots.

Used cars simply save people money. This savings can be from the overall price of the car, and the insurance cost of a car. Used cars are cheaper on insurance than when you buy brand new. There is also more room in the price a vehicle to haggle with, instead of paying the brand new car premium that other dealerships have.

If you are in the market for a new vehicle, you should take a second glance at cars that are used. Many cars for sale that are used come off a lease, which means low miles and that it was highly maintained. This presents the best buy for a customer. No matter what your budget is, or what type of vehicle you are in the market for, a used car lot has the best chance of suiting your needs.

Hybrid Cars

Hybrid Cars
There are many reasons why people should drive electric hybrid cars. They are safer for the environment than

gasoline engines. They also are more fuel efficient, and cost less money to operate than a gasoline powered car.

However, they also cost a little more to purchase than a similar gasoline powered car, and because they are so new

it is hard to find any inexpensive used models. They also do not burn less fuel when being operated at highway

speeds. Since the biggest consumers of gas and the biggest polluters are tractor-trailers and other commercial

vehicles, the use of electric hybrid cars will make only a small dent in cleaning up the environment.

It is frequently advertised that electric hybrid cars are good for the environment. This is because they use less

gasoline than regular combustion engines. They emit far less pollution than a regular car because at least part of

the time they run on electricity which is a much cleaner form of energy than gasoline. If everyone drove an

electric hybrid car, the environment would be a much cleaner place. Problems like smog and the hole in the ozone

layer could be fixed.
Hybrid cars are also good for the environment not only because they are preventing pollution, but because they are

using up less of our natural resources. It has been shown that if we continue to use oil at the rate we are

presently using it, it will not be long before there is no oil left. However, with electric hybrid cars we can use

less oil. In this way electric hybrid cars conserve our natural resources and prevent an oil shortage from

occurring.
Another good reason to drive an electric hybrid car is because they can save their drivers a lot of money. Electric

hybrid cars use far less fuel than gasoline powered engines. Their owners save money because they do not need to

buy gas as much. The cars produce their own electricity. The cars operate on a combination of gas and electricity.

When the motor is being powered by electricity it is not burning gas. Owners of hybrid cars can spend half as much

or more on gas as people who own similarly sized gasoline powered cars. This is a very big selling point at this

point in time because gas prices keep getting more expensive.
There are several reasons why not everyone is running out and buying electric hybrid cars even though they sound so

great. At the present time, these cars cost a little more than similarly sized gasoline cars. For most people,

price is very important when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. Many cannot afford to buy a new car, and buy used

cars instead. Since electric hybrid cars are a relatively new invention there are very few used ones available, and

most of those are not very inexpensive. Right now, there are not many choices available to buyers of hybrid cars.

Those who desire minivans, SUVs, or pickup trucks need to buy gasoline powered cars for now until hybrid versions

of these vehicles become available.
While it may seem that the use of electric hybrid cars could really clean up the environment, there are a few

things that people need to be aware of. At present the hybrid cars that are available are better on gas and better

on the environment only when they are being driven in town or at a slower rate of speed. The technology that exists

at present has not produced a car than can run solely on electricity at highway speeds. This means that when a

hybrid car is driven at sixty miles per hour it is running on gasoline and burning just as much fuel as an ordinary

gasoline powered engine. Also the technology has not yet produced a hybrid engine suitable for tractor trailers or

other large commercial vehicles which represent some of the biggest polluters and consumers of gas.
If every family owned just one electric hybrid vehicle it could significantly help the environment by creating less

pollution and using less gasoline. Families who can afford these cars can save themselves money on gasoline.

However, this technology is new and there are still several areas in which the hybrid car can be improved so that

it could have an even bigger positive impact on the environment and the people who drive them.

Wholesale Auto Auctions - Where to Get the Best Deals

Wholesale Auto Auctions - Where to Get the Best Deals
If you are looking for a great deal on a used vehicle, then you need to know how to cut out the middle man and go straight to the wholesale auto auctions where the dealers get their vehicles. Did you know that used cars are typically marked up by almost 200%. That means when you pay $5,000 for a vehicle the dealer payed less than $2,000 for that same vehicle at the wholesale auto auctions?

You can cut the middle man out and go get your great deal with no hassle. When I was quite a bit younger I lost my job and my vehicle was repossessed. When this happens they normally take it to auction and sell it. This vehicle was 2 years old, had less than 20,000 miles on it, had upgraded rims and stereo, and was worth nearly $10,000. It sold for a whopping $2,900 at the auction to whomever bid on it.

Had I known this before I would have gone and bought my vehicle, then turned around and sold it to help pay off what I still owed on it. This is why car auctions are so great. This was an incredible deal for whom ever bought it and an eye opening experience for me.

Because of this experience I now buy all of my vehicles at wholesale auto auctions and when I see a red hot deal I pick up an extra vehicle so that I can turn around and sell it for a profit. I probably buy 4-5 vehicle each month and usually I can profit around $10,000 or more each month. I put in very little time and it is a pretty easy money maker that anybody can use.
All I do is list the vehicle for sale in the paper after getting my mechanic to give it a full inspections, I double the price from whatever I paid for it and usually it sells within a week. This is a great little business or you can just use this knowledge to go and buy a vehicle for yourself and get it at a fraction of the price.

The only real secret that I have is the type of wholesale auto auctions I go to. I have a database that I am a member of and it gives me the best seized auto auctions and other types of auto auctions that are not being advertised anywhere else. This give me the chance to be bidding on vehicles that only a handful of other people are bidding on and most of the time I can bid without ever even going to the auction.

If you are really looking for an affordable as well as quality car that will last over 10 years without any major issue, you may see no farther than the 2011 Honda Civic. The 2011 Honda Civic comes in the Coupe as well as Sedan Style.

The Coupe may not be suitable for a family drive, but is less expensive and suitable for the college students. The Sedan, suitable for the family members comes in different models with LX model offering a large number of automatic options. The Si Model is more sporty and has higher gas power.

Honda Civic is great for the mileage. With the gas prices going to hover around $4 per gallon, in not so distant future, Honda Civic makes and interesting financial buy. In the long run it will save money on fuel cost. Besides Corolla, the 2011 Mazda and the 2011 Ford Focus are other competitive cars that you may like to research before taking any buying decision. The Ford Focus, has especially improved its quality tremendously in the recent years and is not at par with the Toyota and Honda, at least to some extent.

Honda Civic is a front wheel drive car. The Automatic and the Manual Transmission versions are available, though the one with Manual Transmission is less expensive. Most people are however, going to opt for the Automatic transmission version. If you are however, looking for a more power and bigger car, you may like to check out the 2011 Honda Accord or the Toyota Camry. Both these cars have a history of great quality and many are still found on road even after crossing 200,000 miles.

Honda Civic Deals - Should You Lease a Honda Civic?

Honda Civic Deals - Should You Lease a Honda Civic?
When it comes to driving a car, you can always, at all times, either buy or lease that car. This includes your favorite Honda. You only have to search online to know that Honda Civic deals include renting. Should you go for Honda Civic deals for renting a brand new car? Here's a rundown of the advantages of renting a new Honda Civic:

Lower monthly payments
Monthly payments for car rentals are invariably lower than than auto financing Honda Civic deals. The monthly payments are around 30% to 60% lower than car loan payments.

A great way to establish credit
Leasing a car is really a great way to establish credit for first time buyers, and a great way to repair credit for buyers with bad credit. Also sometime leasing is the only way that you can get one of those Honda Civic Deals.

You get to drive a new car every three years
Since car lease typically last only three years, you get to drive a new car every three years, unless if you take the purchase option, which is often available for car leases.

For majority of people, the appeal of renting a car lies in the fact that you cans simply walk away from a car at the end of lease term if you're not happy with it or if there's a new car that you fancy. The bad thing about car leases is that you don't own any equity in the car at the end of the lease term. After all, you really are just renting with this kind of Honda Civic deals. You would have to repeat the same cycle with another car at the end of the lease term.

If you buy a new Honda Car with 36 month loan, after 36 months, you would have $15,000 equity on a $30,000 car, and you can use the car to sell it or trade it in to buy another car. Another thing with leases is that you have to watch out for your mileage limits, which is typically set at 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year. If you go over your mileage, you would have to paid the penalties.

Honda Civic cars are famous for having great resale value, which means that they retain some of their value even after depreciation. You might want to consider buying a Civic rather than renting one.
But if you're the type who doesn't like to be bothered with all the maintenance hassles associated with owning a car, renting that new Honda Civic could just be the best that you get into. Of course, as with anything else, you don't just dive into signing a rental deal. The new Civic models have perfect scores for safety in crash tests which, needless to say, means that you have adequate protection in case you meet an accident.
Where car leases are concerned, there are no airbags that will protect you from being financially shortchanged if you don't properly do the math.

Day 3 on the Floor Continues to Impress: SEMA 2011

Day 3 on the Floor Continues to Impress: SEMA 2011
I suppose if we have to endure blisters, blood-shot eyeballs, and aggressive crowds (I wish I had a dollar for every time someone bumped into me) in order to spend another day covering the SEMA Show for you, it's the least we can do.

Here are just a few more examples of some of the interesting things we got to look at while walking the show today. We can probably guess which one is your favorite.

We'd ask you to be patient as we digest all that we've collected. We've got more to come and will likely need time to download a lot of the information we've collected for you (the good thing about OE engineers that attend SEMA is that many of them can't hold their liquor).

We'll also have some videos coming your way so stay tuned. Enjoy.

This military-looking resto is actually a compilation of Jeep, Bronco, and Dodge mechanicals.

We almost walked right by this truck because there were so many other impressive vehicles around--it almost got lost. We were told the only way to survive driving this truck over the long-haul is to have the highest quality air-suspended seats.

Built out of Detroit, this F-650 is the creation of Adam M. Genei from Mobsteel. He drove it to the show, towing three other custom cars. We'll have more on this truck at a later date.

This is a customized Ford F-150 EcoBoost the boys at 4 Wheel & Off Road Magazine modified to run in their yearly Ultimate Adventure extreme trail ride. Oddly, it was sitting in the Nitto tire booth that had an ultra-modern and ritzy black and white theme, complete with a very stylish model. The contrast was too much for us to resist.

This stretched Kodiak came complete with a full wet-bar, big-screen TV, and reclining seats.

One of the themes we saw this year was the practice of leaving the exterior sheetmetal looking as if it had just been discovered in a barn after years of neglect. The patina-look works for a lot of rat rods but now is overflowing to into pickups builders as well.

2013 Nissan GT-R: What's New

After the Nissan GT-R’s mild refresh last year, which included a more powerful engine, Nissan is back at it again, adding more power and refinement to the sports car for the 2013 model year.

Upgrades include numerous engine, transmission and suspension changes that’ll further hone in the GT-R’s already legendary performance.

The engine gets enlarged air intakes and an improved exhaust, which helps improve power: The twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 is now rated at 545 horsepower (up 15 hp from 2012) and 463 pounds-feet of torque (up 15 pounds-feet).
The transmission shift feel and quietness has been improved, too, says Nissan. High-performance differential oil is now standard on all models.

The suspension has been retuned, as well. Feature updates include a now standard backup camera and a new blue-lit tachometer.

The 2013 GT-R will be offered in two trims, GT-R Premium and GT-R Black Edition. First introduced last year, the Black Edition trim adds custom red-and-black Recaro-brand seats and interior trim as well as a black headliner.

The 2013 Nissan GT-R will roll out to select Nissan dealerships starting in January.

2011 Frankfurt Auto Show: 2013 Hyundai i30

Hyundai is clearly done being that car you don't know the name of.

For a long time, Hyundai cars were sort of bland, and when you did get close enough to read the name, you then recoiled at its reputation. This new i30 is a stylish crossover that shows the Korean car maker is not only interested in competing but also stomping out the embers of its ugly past.

US prefers Lexus

Reported October sales figures for Lexus luxury brand pushed Lexus brand on top ahead of its German rivals that have until recently enjoyed US dominance in luxury car market. Lexus managed to shift just over 20 thousand vehicles outperforming brands such as Mercedes Benz and BMW by almost 1000 and 2000 units respectively.

Lexus YTD sales figures up to October represents consistent growth with recorded 8% increase for the month of October pushing just over 180,000 vehicles through its showroom in the last 10 months. Lexus consistent push towards introduction of newer technology to the market, including the introduction of Hybrid technology to its premium brand products supported by excellent customer service and vehicle after sale support is proving to be the Winner in quite competitive premium car marketplace.

Volkswagen plans to introduce EV for China

According to Volkswagen Group China, Volkswagen plans to manufacture electrically powered vehicles in China under joint-venture agreement with local player SAIC Motor and FAW Group that will be responsible for building up to 10,000 EV (electric vehicles) between 2014 and 2018, destined for local distribution. Chinese current dependability and future demand on power supply from its conventional coal-fired power station may force vehicle manufacture to rethink its approach with electrically powered vehicle for this market with possibility of China-specific EV design alternative that would overcome current hurdles that makes such opportunities financially unjustifiable. However, China is following other global examples by introducing government-funded subsidy for electrically powered and Hybrid vehicles. This follows recent announcement by GM to offer its version of electrically powered vehicle GM Volt towards the end of 2011.

Bentley launches 'Series 51' options for Flying Spur

First Official Pictures

11 November 2010 17:00

Bentley has announced a raft of new 'Series 51' upgrades (and a new infotainment system) for the Continental Flying Spur and Flying Spur Speed, helping to keep the pair feeling fresh before replacements arrive in a few years time. Series 51 designs have been an option on the Continental GT and GTC since 2009, but this will be the first time they've been offered on the four-door limo.

What is a 'Series 51' option on a Bentley Continental Flying Spur?

A whole host of different upgrades for your big Bentley. Inside there's a choice of 14 different interior colour and trim options, recommended by Bentley's designers in Crewe. Bentley claims the choices offered are 'complex but harmonising colour schemes of depth and beauty', but in reality it boils down to a few set choices of wood, leather and aluminium. In the back Bentley now offer scatter cushions 'to further complement the exclusive design', but we think the novelty would quickly wear off after you take your first tight bend at speed.

On the outside a range of two-tone paint options will be offered, along with new blue brake callipers and front wing vents to complement the Series 51 graphite-finished, 19-inch, nine-spoke alloys.

And the new infotainment system?

All new Continental Flying Spurs (and Supersports coupes and convertibles) will be equipped with Bentley's latest touchscreen infotainment system, complete with 30GB hard drive. The wider 8-inch display houses the car's TV and audio system, phone, ride and comfort settings and sat-nav.

The new Series 51 options, and the infotainment system, will be available from March 2011.
